New Year...New Self

Feel refreshed this New Year with God's Word! Many people have resolutions and goals for the next 12 months (exercise more, eat right, manage finances...) and these are all great goals and should be worked on (Please do!) But many people are focusing more on the temporal fixes and changes and not on anything eternal.
“All flesh is like grass
and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
and the flower falls,
but the word of the Lord remains forever.” ! Peter 1:24, 25

Let these truths highlight your year and characterize your life...

Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.
1 Peter 3:8,9

Wednesday's Wisdom

"My Saviour wept that all tears might be wiped from my eyes, groaned that I might have endless song...bore a thorned crown that I might have a glory-diadem, bowed his head that I might lift mine...Go forth, O conquering God, and show me the cross, mighty to subdue, comfort and save."

Wednesday's Wisdom

" Give me to believe that thou canst do for me more than I ask or think, and that, though I backslide, thy love will never let me go, but will draw me back to thee with everlasting cords; that thou dost provide grace in the wilderness"

Wednesday's Wisdom

The Valley of Vision is a collection of puritan prayers. This is a must read! Its so encouraging and beautiful how the Puritans protrayed their love, affection, and dependance on the Lord. Here is a quote for today:

"...the valley is the place of vision. Lord, in the daytime stars can be seen from the deepest wells, the deeper the wells the brighter thy stars shine;
Let me find thy light in my darkness,
thy life in my death,
thy joy in my sorrow,
thy grace in my sin,
thy riches in my poverty,
thy glory in my valley."

The little things...

I want to begin my blog with something I love (obviously by the title). Yes, chocolate and cookies and chocolate chip cookies...but more specifically, the things that make life sweet and bring sunshine to an ordinary day. As you continue reading in the days to come, you will encounter things that I enjoy. The more I  experience both joys, trials and everything in between I realize there is so much to be thankful for. The little things, the details, are just as much of God's grace as the bigger things. God is involved in every detail of our lives even in the midst of a stormy trial where life seems dark and hopeless, there He is pouring out His grace on us and shining His light on us. I like to take the time to notice those "overlooked graces" that we don't always appreciate. Enjoy!
Psalm 112:4 "Light arises in the darkness for the upright; He is gracious and compassionate and righteous".
